Our proposal for a Skate Park

The latest version of the proposal can be found here

"The best skate park in the South West can be found in Pewsey, Wiltshire.  A short walk from Pewsey station is a concrete park that blends the natural world into an urban skate scene. With challenging long runs, a bowl, steps, rails and many other obstacles all in a chilled out and friendly environment PWZSK8 is one of the best parks in the country. This little park may be off the beaten track but it has already produced an XGames medalist and next year the village has high hopes of winning its second olympic medal.  Not bad for a village in Wiltshire."

OK - this may not be true yet, but why not? The space exists, there is funding available and we have the talent.  Lets make it happen!

What We Want (Please)

We do not have a building or money to pay for people to run an indoor park which means an open air park is the only option.  Luckily, we think we know of a place that would be ideal!

We propose that the School give a lease to Pewsey Area Community Trust (PACT) on the triangle of land at Pewsey Vale School which is currently derelict and help us to bid for money to build the park.

We are also interested in hearing from anybody who could suggest any alternative sites in Pewsey if the school has alternative use for this land.

We will work with the Shak and PACT in consulting, designing , building and operating a skate park. The skate park will be of concrete and steel construction and use the lessons learned from other urban skate parks that the team have visited.

The skate park will be modelled on the Philadelphia FDR skate park, be low cost to build and maintain but be a valuable asset to the young people in the Pewsey Area.

The Ampitheatre
We have been told that the school would like to see a space for out door performances.  After discussing it with the project, we are strongly of the opinion that a concrete ampitheatre is a great idea!

Apart from being something interesting to skate, we would like to re-start the skate jam evenings and will need a stage to do so.  It seems to us that there could be some really good evenings with music or theatre at one end of the park, skating at the other.

There is a model coming soon so watch this space for the photos.
